He almost knocked out his second opponent Stephan Bonnar in the first round but finally he won this fight by unanimous decision. And this was his last win until April 21 2012 which wasn´t before the time limit. After finishing his third opponent by guillotine choke at UFC 100 he got a contract for antoher 4 fights in UFC. Jones also dominated in the first fight within a new contract against Matt Hamill but due to a prohibited elbow strikes which caused that Hamill wasn´t able to continue Jones was disqualified and lost that fight.

But in the next few fights Jones got a smile back on his face. Firstly he defeated Brandon Vera by TKO in the first round and then he delivered another win by TKO in the first round by defeating Vladimir Matyushenko. Dana White said after that fight that he was very surprised how easy it was for Jon Jones to beat Vladimir and that Jones catapulted himself into a top eight. And Jon Jones also said that it is very likely to receive a title shot if he will finish his next two fights. So he just put on another impressive performance and submitted his next opponent Ryan Bader in the second round.

The youngest UFC champion

After a defeating Ryan Bader, Jones was told that he would replace his training partner Rashad Evans in a fight against light heavyweight champion Maurício „Shogun“ Rua because Evans had a knee injury and wasn´t able to fight for a title. So on March 19, 2011 at UFC 128 came a huge moment for Jon Jones. And he was just amazing from the first moment of the fight. In just a few seconds Jones landed a huge flying knee and then he dominated in all fields. In striking, wrestling and also on the ground. This one man show continued until a third round where Jones landed tough body shot and knee to a Rua´s head which puted Maurício on his knees and fight was over. Jon Jones became the youngest UFC champion in his age of 24.
