Highlights of his career
First UFC fight
Before the first fight of Jon´s UFC career he had a 6 MMA fights with a debut in April 2008 when he was 21 years old. And he finished all of his opponents in those 6 fights within a 4 months. In July 2008 Jones got an offer from UFC to be a late replacement with only two weeks‘ notice. And he accepted so his UFC debut was on August 9 2008 at UFC 87 against Andre Gusmão and he showed everyone that he definitely deserves to be a part of UFC. Jones delivered an unorthodox striking with a spinning back kicks and elbows and he won by unanimous decision with a certain dominance.
Amazing winning streak
After his UFC debut Jon Jones was smashing his opponents in a very clear way. He almost knocked out his second opponent Stephan Bonnar in the first round but finally he won this fight by unanimous decision. And this was his last win until April 21 2012 which wasn´t before the time limit. After finishing his third opponent by guillotine choke at UFC 100 he got a contract for antoher 4 fights in UFC. Jones also dominated in the first fight within a new contract against Matt Hamill but due to a prohibited elbow strikes which caused that Hamill wasn´t able to continue Jones was disqualified and lost that fight.
But in the next few fights Jones got a smile back on his face. Firstly he defeated Brandon Vera by TKO in the first round and then he delivered another win by TKO in the first round by defeating Vladimir Matyushenko. Dana White said after that fight that he was very surprised how easy it was for Jon Jones to beat Vladimir and that Jones catapulted himself into a top eight. And Jon Jones also said that it is very likely to receive a title shot if he will finish his next two fights. So he just put on another impressive performance and submitted his next opponent Ryan Bader in the second round.
The youngest UFC champion
After a defeating Ryan Bader, Jones was told that he would replace his training partner Rashad Evans in a fight against light heavyweight champion Maurício „Shogun“ Rua because Evans had a knee injury and wasn´t able to fight for a title. So on March 19, 2011 at UFC 128 came a huge moment for Jon Jones. And he was just amazing from the first moment of the fight. In just a few seconds Jones landed a huge flying knee and then he dominated in all fields. In striking, wrestling and also on the ground. This one man show continued until a third round where Jones landed tough body shot and knee to a Rua´s head which puted Maurício on his knees and fight was over. Jon Jones became the youngest UFC champion in his age of 24.
Hit and run accident
In 2015 Jones was sought to cause a car collision and run away from that. At first it seemed that this act will be marked just as a misdemeanor but then it elevated to be a felony because of injuring a person and running away. Jones paid a bail of 2,500 $ and was able to remain free by following certain conditions which included for example 72 separate appearances for charity or youth outreach. Dana White met with Jones in person and after that the title was took of from Jones and he was suspended indefinitely.
Brawl with Daniel Cormier
During the event which was promoting UFC 178 in 2014 there was a very intensive staredown between Jon Jones and Daniel Cormier. At first they connected their foreheads where Jones maybe used more power and that caused Cormier to shove to Jones which pressed a trigger in Jones and brawl started. Jones throwed a few punches and they destroyed a stage together. Two months later Jones had to pay a 50,000 $ fine and to undergo 40 hours of community service
